The Begum Hazrat Mahal National Scholarship 2023 24 previously known by Maulana Azad Scholarship is a national-level initiative of the Government of India to support the education of meritorious girl students belonging to minority communities of India . This scheme was Implemented by the Maulana Azad Education Foundation and this scheme aims to encourage girls from underprivileged backgrounds to continue their school education without facing financial obstacles. This scholarship provides financial assistance of rs 10000 to rs 12000 per year to eligible students studying in Classes 9 to 12. Since its inception scheme has successfully supported nearly 6 lakh minority girl students across the country, helping them achieve educational stability and academic growth.

Eligibility criteria

Eligibility criteria set by Begum Hazrat Mahal National Scholarship for girl students from minority communitiescIs as follows:

  1. The student must be Belonging to one of the six notified minority communities like Muslim, Christian, Sikh, Buddhist, Jain or Parsi.
  2. She must be studying in Class 9, 10, 11 or 12 class.
  3. The student must have secured at least 50 percent of marks or equivalent grades in her previous annual examination.
  4. The annual family income from all sources should be less than 2 lakh.

Scholarship Amount and Financial Benefits

The Begum Hazrat Mahal Scholarship supports students in covering tuition fees, stationery and hostel related expenses and scholarship details as follows:

Classes 9 to 10 Books, tuition, lodging and boarding Rs 10,000 in two instalments of rs 5,000.
Classes 11 to 12 Books, tuition, lodging and boarding Rs 12,000 in two instalments of rs 6,000.

The scholarship amount will be credited into bank account directly.

The selection for this scholarship is merit-cum-means based. Eligible applicants are shortlisted based on their:

Renewal Rules

This scholarship does not support renewals. Since it covers Classes 9 to 12, students must apply afresh every academic year if they continue to meet eligibility conditions.
